Preparing for the 2014 season

We will have plots available for this year and welcome energetic new gardeners! There is a waiting list, but beginning March 15, we will be inviting new gardeners who are on that list. Email us at skcommunitygarden@gmail.com. Current members: your plot renewal application is due on March 4, 2014. Previous plot holders are eligible to maintain their same plot or make a request for a larger, smaller, or new plot. This is on a first come first serve basis.

We are excited to be contemplating the start of a new garden season as this long snowy and dreary winter continues. Our catalogs have been mightily thumbed through in anticipation of the growing season, and the Community Garden Board has been busy meeting monthly over the winter months to organize and plan for the gardening season ahead.

Previous plot holders are eligible to maintain their same plot or make a request for a larger, smaller, or new plot. This is on a first come first serve basis. On March 15th, we will begin to invite new gardeners who are on the waiting list to join us.

Also, we have hundreds of vegetable seeds donated to us through the URI Master Gardener Program. If you would be interested in getting a jump on your plants for the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale and your own garden please contact Susan Stiles (stiles222@aol.com) or Lisa Wright (elwright04@yahoo.com).
This season we will be adding new activities including education workshops on planting, pest prevention, composting and other topics. We also plan to have social get-togethers added to the calendar. These events will be posted on SK Community Garden Face Book page, the web page (skcommunitygardens.org) and the Kiosk at the front gate – so stay tuned!

If you have any ideas or suggestions please we want to hear from our members- this is your garden so let us let us know how we can make it better.

We look forward to seeing you in the garden- think Spring!!
